Today, there are multiple benefits of consuming CBD as discovered by recent researchers in this field. Countries around the world have started legalizing this wonder plant. What exactly is it? CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second active ingredient in cannabis (marijuana). It is obtained directly from the hemp plant, a cousin of marijuana

Although it is one of the hundreds of elements in marijuana, CBD, by itself, does not create the “high” usually obtained with THC found in marijuana. According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…To date, there is no evidence of public health-related problems associated with the use of CBD.”

Compared to many US subpopulations, veterans have high rates of obesity. Obesity prevalence is higher in women veterans overall than in their civilian counterparts considering 44% of women veterans are obese. Thus, there is a critical need to understand the barriers to weight loss for veterans and what they can do to lose weight more effectively.

CBD has been proposed as a natural remedy to promote weight loss and control obesity. For many veterans suffering from excess weight gain, this compound can be a windfall. Any veteran who has served actively will be understandably concerned about their physique, but transitioning into civilian life makes it difficult to adjust to the new circumstances.

Some of the effects of CBD on obesity, often cited and backed by science and include:

1. Appetite Suppression

Even though cannabis use is associated with terms like the “munchies” which signify hunger cravings after recreational use, the case of CBD is quite different. THC is the active compound responsible for stimulating the appetite while CBD is responsible for suppressing hunger.

Most CBD products are pure extracts with little to no presence of THC compounds.  This ensures that the maximum weight loss benefits of CBD are exploited without the psychoactive effects usually associated with marijuana.

A recent 2020 study on phytocannabinoids laid special emphasis on cannabidiol and probed deep into the matter to investigate the alleged weight loss effects of CBD. The study showed that the CB1 and CB2 receptors which exist at multiple locations in our bodies are affected differently by CBD. The CB1 receptors are largely blocked by CBD which results in anti-obesity effects. It was discovered that CBD can lead to better regulation of the various mechanisms like metabolism, appetite, energy balance, and so forth.

2. Turns Normal Fat into Brown Fat

Brown fat is the kind of fat that we usually refer to as good fat. This type of fat is much healthier for our bodies since it is easier for our bodies to burn. The regular consumption of CBD has been shown to promote a higher level of these brown fats while reducing the levels of unhealthy white fats in humans. Brown fats are responsible for generating heat by burning calories and the process of fat browning can be promoted by regular exercise, adequate sleep, and exposure to colder temperatures.

CBD is equally as effective as the above-mentioned factors when it comes to aiding in the browning of fats. This claim is backed by a study done in 2016 which found that CBD helps in the browning of 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The researchers concluded that CBD is a promising solution to obesity and should definitely be explored further.

3. Reduces Risks of Metabolic Disorders

Not only has CBD been proven effective in controlling and reducing obesity in humans, but it has also been shown to have preventive effects as well. As we are all presently aware, there is a definite link between obesity and disorders like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and even high cholesterol.

These findings become more critical once you realize that abdominal obesity is very closely associated with the above-mentioned disorders. If these disorders can be controlled then the levels of obesity can be kept in check as well. Not only humans but even rats have shown a reduction in cholesterol levels by 25% when exposed to CBD. These results appear to be very optimistic and can lead the way in helping out-of-shape veterans lose excess weight.

4. Counters Insulin Resistance

One of the universal features of obesity and diabetes is the extremely high resistance of the body to insulin. Insulin serves the function of regulating glucose levels in the bloodstream and transporting it to the cells. When the body becomes insulin resistant, the pancreas keeps on releasing more and more insulin but it doesn’t work, this leads to an insatiable feeling of hunger which creates an endless, vicious cycle.

Research shows that CBD is effective in reducing insulin sensitivity. A study found that the phytocannabinoids including CBD were able to perform much better than the prescribed drugs like Metformin. CBD helps the cells absorb glucose, which leads to less blood sugar being stored as fat and thereby reducing hunger.

The investigations into the exact nature of CBD and its multiple effects on obesity are still being researched. According to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, “VA clinicians may only prescribe medications that have been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for medical use.” Unfortunately, CBD is not currently regulated by the FDA, and VA physicians are not allowed to prescribe or recommend its use. However, it is important to note that even though the VA will not prescribe CBD oil, veterans who use CBD products will not be denied VA benefits. And as long as Veterans are careful to only take a high-quality Broad-spectrum CBD with verified ingredients authenticated by a “Certificate of Authorization” published by an independent lab (such as the CBD products produced by DYNAPURE CBD, they are safe in the knowledge that they won’t fail a drug test.

Even though CBD products are not allowed to be used by the soldiers on active duty, the veterans can find a much-needed respite once the benefits of CBD are made available to them. With the active push by many social activists and the legalization of cannabis by many states, the day is not far away when everyone will be able to utilize the medicinal benefits of CBD.  In thanks to the many veterans that have served please visit our Military Discount Page here for a Memorial Day Special: https://dynapurecbd.com/rewarding-heroes/military-discounts/
